Theater Room

This is probably my favorite room transformation. When we bought it, it was a pool table with a dart board. 

When we first moved in we sold the pool table. 

We put out big fish tank down in this room. But, it was downstairs and nobody really saw the tank anymore. So, hubby kind of let it go. It looked pretty nasty after awhile. That's why we decided to sell it and buy a different one that matched the living room upstairs. It's much better up there. See post about living room for pictures of the new tank. 

On the other part of the room we put our huge comfy sectional and mounted our TV on the wall. It became the Theater Room. It's the perfect room for it because there are no windows. So, it's nice and dark with the lights off. 

We still need to put new trim around, which we will probably do this weekend.

And we need to buy new light fixtures. We'll do that soon too. 

Slowly but surely....

Here's the pool table and the room how it looked when we bought it. The blue wall color was really gross. And there were lots of tiny holes in the wall from the dart board. 

Here's how it looked for a long time. The tank was in one corner.

And just the couch was in the other. It took a long time to get the inspiration for this room. Finally one day it just hit. 

The ceiling was SOOO bad. It was so dirty it was almost brown.

And the dart board was glued to the wall. Tearing it off would have ruined the dry wall. 

I wasn't sure what to do with it. 

I finally had a revelation! A bulletin board!!! I painted it white. Then hubby cut trim to frame it. I painted the trim and then hubby nailed it on. Looks awesome!! Good idea, right? We made it the parents computer area. 

I love this wall of stickers!!! I got them at Target. My favorite store of ALL time!!!  The hubby doesn't like when I go there. Ha ha. Sometimes I sneak there. Shhh. Good thing it's 20 min away from home or I'd really be in trouble. 

We made the corner {where the tank used to be} a reading corner for the kids. I got the bookshelf at my other favorite store, The Restore. It's like a Goodwill for home furnishings. It matched perfectly so I didn't have to do anything to it!

The hubby and I fall asleep on this couch like every night. It's too comfy and snuggly!! 

Just need to install the new door we bought yesterday. And the new trim. When it's done, it will be beautifully amazing!!! I {heart} this room!!!! 

I love my hanging teal light from Ikea. My other FAVORITE store. I know, I have a lot. But, that's probably my #1 favorite. I could stay there all day, if I didn't have 6 kids driving me bonkers. It's the worst store to take kids to. Yes, they have a daycare. But, it's always too full to put 6 kids in at once. And they look at us like we're crazy for wanting to put 6 in at once. I stopped trying. Anywho, that spot right below the light, it's mine. I don't even let the kids lay there because I don't want their stank left behind. Ha!

I still need to put pictures in the frames. But, I bought all those frames for only $6 on black Friday at Walmart. Crazy awesome!! They were black. I spray painted them all. They make my heart sing a happy song.

I recently took new family pictures. I can't wait to print them off and hang them in the frames. Just yesterday I finally finished editing them. I love being a photographer, but I wish someone would do the editing for me. My hubbs just let me buy some Photoshop actions. They will change my life. I had fun trying them out. Wood Shop

Our house has a wood shop!! It's what sold my husband on the house when we walked through it for the first time. When he walked in his jaw dropped. He looked like a happy school boy. So, glad we bought this house!! I think I say that to myself every day! 

This is the shop before we filled it up. 

JD has all of his wood working tools in there now. It's the best thing ever!! He used to have to go to his dad's house to work on everything. It's so nice being able to walk into his shop and do everything we need. It's gotten a lot of use during our renovations!! 

Computer Desks

With as many kids as we have, we needed a few computers for the kids to do their homework on. I decided to go down to my favorite store and look for something I could fix up. I found two great desks that I fell in love with. I came right home and went to work on fixing them up. 

I {love} the cream desk. It's super old and vintage. 

All the handles were missing. It was sad. I was trying to decide what to do. I didn't want to paint over where the handles were because I was trying to keep it as original as possible. 

I found a gallon of paint in my garage that matched perfectly! So, I retouched everything with a little paint. Then I sanded down different areas and applied stain to make it look old. Then I re-stained the whole top. Which made a huge difference. Once I was done doing that I opened the top right drawer....and low and behold....all the handles were in the drawer!! I was SOOO happy. I screwed them back. It was perfect. I didn't have to do anything to them. They were vintage cool already!

I didn't have to do too much to this one. I Just sanded down all the edges and a few places on the drawers. I stained the places I sanded down. Then I stained the whole top. And that was it.

Living Room Remodel

Here is the living room before. There was wood paneling all over the walls. It was yucky!

There were crazy light fixtures all over the living room. They had pine trees and log cabins on them. Pretty interesting decor the previous owners had. They came down really fast!

We hung up curtains.

Then the painting began. We used to wood primer for the first coat. It worked really well. We weren't sure how the wood would look painted. But, it turned out amazing!! We are very happy with the results. It took 3 coats of paint. Lots of work!

We had to paint the oak trim and crown molding as well. And we had to put 4 coats of paint on them. It took SOOO long!! I think I painted for 14 hours straight for 3 days straight, just for the trim. I was determined to get it done!

It was worth it. The trim looks amazing!! And the painted wood walls look amazing!! They look so straight and smooth.

So bright and inviting!!

We put new trim around the bookshelf. Really helped. 

Then I bought some computer desks and fixed them up. We put them both in the living room. It was a nice addition. 

Then we added a fish tank and moved the desks around a bit. We LOVE our fish tank!! We had a different one downstairs. It was black and not so pretty. And nobody got to enjoy it because it was downstairs. We found this beauty on Craiglists and snatched it up. It matches our house perfectly! We are glad to have it upstairs. Everyone that comes over to visit enjoy looking at it. 

Then it was Christmas time so we added a beautiful Christmas tree. But I was glad to take it down. It made the space feel small. 

Then just last week we bought a new couch. The kids kept messing up my nice white couch. I was afraid they were going to ruin it. And it only fit 3 adults on it. Or 2 adults and 2 kids. Which didn't work for our family of 8. Or the many parties we have at our house. This works out so much better!! I miss the white couch up here though. I think it did looked prettier. And brighter. Oh well. 

We moved the white couch down into the Master Bedroom, which I already posted pictures of. It looks good down there. It's so comfy and snuggly, which makes it perfect to watch our TV shows in our room. 

The only things I have left to do in this room is paint the fireplace and install new flooring. The flooring will probably be a few years away, sadly. 

I love the transformation of this room!!
