Downstairs Hallway

The downstairs hallway wasn't as bad as upstairs. It was mostly just the orange{ish} trim, white boring walls, white boring door, gold ball light fixtures, and gold marble swirl tile that bothered me. So, pretty much everything about it :-). Ha! But, at least it didn't have wallpaper!!

I like the door with the window. But, I didn't like that everyone could see into the house from the backyard. We found this awesome window stuff so attach to the window. It makes it pretty and functional!!

I wasn't sure what to do about the floor. I hated it. But we couldn't afford to replace it yet. So, I had a marvelous idea....

Here are more pictures of the hallway.

See how yucky the tile was??

I painted the {orange} doors. But, they still didn't look nice. So, I convinced the hubbs that we should just replace all the doors downstairs. I didn't realize what a mess?project that would be!!

Just getting them home was a chore.

We filled up our whole van.

Here's the door waiting to be installed.

Here's the Master bedroom door we replaced. Yuck!!

Here it is all installed. Love it!

The hubbs picked out the wrong door. So, now our door opens up into the hallway instead of our room. Which ended up being a good mistake. We like it better. It makes the entry into our room feel bigger.

Then we started in on the other 3 doors. It was a HUGE job for my baby! Each door took like 3 to 4 hours. Hanging and door and making it level is not easy!!!

After we installed the doors I had to paint all of them. They were cream. I painted them white.

This is the theater room door all done. Pretty!!

Then after all the doors were done we took all the trim off.

The hubbs measured the new trim and cut it. Then I painted it and put it aside.

Remember how I told you about the ugly tile that I didn't want to replace?

Well, I remembered I could PAINT it. And so I did.

I painted around the edges so that we could still walk around down there.

It's super sticky so we couldn't walk on it for a full 24 hours.

I used a long handled roller with a foam roller. The paint rolled on sooo nicely. I love tile paint!!! If you haven't tried it, you're missing out.

Then when it was dry, the hubbs stapled the new trim on.

Then I painted a small portion of the hallway and let it dry for 24 hours.

Then a few days later I painted the rest of the hallway.

That made for an adventure!! We had to try to squeeze onto the edges where I had already painted a few days before. It was pretty tricky! It made us laugh!!

{BTW, I can't wait to get rid of the yucky stairs and stair rail}

The finished product is seriously AMAZING!!! It looks and smells brand new!!! I love love love it!!! Every time I look at it, it makes me happy!!

And we did replace the lights finally. But, I haven't taken final pictures of that yet. Much better!!

Update on Master Bedroom

So, here is the update on the master bedroom. We installed new trim around the floor, doors, and windows. It's perfect!!! I love it!! Feels like an oasis!!

Check out the before pics here.

The hubbs measured and cut the trim, perfectly, I might add. I love been married to an engineer!!!

Then I took the pieces out into the hallway and painted them. Then the hubbs stapled them to the wall. Then I put putty in the nail holes. Then I painted the putty.

Teamwork!!

And I found this amazing rug that totally matches everything!!

I {heart} it!!

Upstairs Hallway

Wood paneling....hmmm. Not sure what else I can say about it. We didn't want to tear it down because that seemed like so much work. We decided to paint it. And actually...I LOVE it!!! It makes the walls sooo smooth and pretty. The bookcase was red. It made the room so gloomy.

And the wallpaper...WOW. WOW. WOW. Terrible idea.

The slate tile is pretty awful too. I want hardwood floors. But, that probably won't happen for awhile. I'm contemplating painting it for now.

The red went all the way down the stairs. Dreadful.

Deer light switch covers. Epic!!

This is how our house looked for while after moving in. This was our project corner. We slowly ticked away at it.

We went to work on the Hallway. The wallpaper was TERRIBLE to get off the walls. It took a long time. Long time!! But, it felt great ripping it off.

I sanded it down to rough it up a bit. Then I sprayed it with vinegar and water {in a spray bottle}. Then I scraped it off with a kitchen spatula. Ha ha.

Some came off in big chunks. But most did not.

I'm glad I had some awesome helpers!!! They actually helped A TON!!! And they enjoyed it. Begged to help. Weirdos!

After the wallpaper came off I started painting. I had to paint the crown molding at the top and the trim around the center. Then grey between it all. It was a lot of work!!! A LOT!!!

We installed a new light fixture.

And I decided to stain all the doors. They are nice solid wood doors.

And I painted the bookshelf. SO much better!!!

Here's the stained door, the bookshelf put all together, the walls all painted, ect. I {heart} it!!!

It's soooo beautiful!!!!!
